Freelance SEO Consultancy

Let's talk
I'm a freelance SEO consultant with over 10 years helping businesses grow in organic search and tackle complex technical challenges.

Having held agency positions for Head of SEO and Head of Marketing, you can be confident you'll receive a senior level of hands-on expertise.

I take a flexible approach to every project, assessing needs for growth, and delivering what works.

"I've worked with Abram for 5.5 years and can honestly say I've never met a better technical SEO expert. He built tools for analysis, forecasting and reporting, and always ensured clients got the results they were paying for.

He's also a really nice bloke, always approachable and always willing to help.

I'd have no hesitation recommending him."

Andrew Firth - Managing Director @ Ascensor

"Abram delivered strong organic results on a complex SEO account for us, handling everything from site restructuring to large-scale content strategy.

He brings real technical depth but never loses sight of commercial impact, translating performance into clear reporting for senior, non-technical members of the team.

He was easy to work with throughout the project."

Sachin Desai - Marketing Director @ JLA Group

Why should you choose me as your SEO consultant?

I've worked as an SEO consultant for over 10 years - across enterprise, eCommerce, growth-stage, and local businesses.

I've handled complex challenges, directly with business owners and working at C-Suite level.

I've held Head of SEO and Head of Marketing positions in agency environments, I bring the senior-level of support you'd get at a large agency - but you don't need to go through layers of communication to get to me.

It's always me answering your messages, working on your account, and working with you directly to get the results you need.

I'm flexible in how I work. Whether you need someone to lead your SEO strategy end-to-end, provide expert input alongside your in-house team, or deliver a specific project, I adapt around what actually works for your business.

Whatever your SEO needs, I'll work closely together with you to make it happen.

SEO Consultancy Services

My SEO consultancy services can all be delivered flexibly as part of our work together.

SEO Strategy

My freelance SEO strategy consultancy combines my knowledge of over 10 years building SEO strategies with your knowledge of the intricacies of your industry and business to build a plan for growth.

A clear SEO strategy ensures this work happens in the areas that will drive the right people, where we can compete, and get new prospects onto the website.

Technical SEO Consultancy

I go beyond the surface to find what's actually holding your site back.

Every recommendation is prioritised by real impact, not just what a crawler flagged.

Large ecommerce sites, JavaScript rendering, architecture challenges, to Edge SEO. I'm most at home with the technical challenges that require genuine depth and experience.

AI SEO / GEO

As AI Overviews compress Google CTRs, LLMs like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude are becoming meaningful sources of organic traffic in their own right.

The good news is that great SEO is great AI SEO. The same technical foundations, entity relationships, and content clarity that Google rewards are what LLMs need to understand, trust, and recommend your site. I help businesses build visibility across both.

SEO Audits

A clear picture of where you are, why you're there, and what to do about it.

I dig into what matters most for your specific situation, whether that's traffic trends, technical issues, competitor landscape or growth opportunities.

You leave with a detailed report and a prioritised action log that makes implementation straightforward.

SEO Forecasting

SEO doesn't have to feel like a leap of faith.

Using current rankings, keyword volumes, competition levels, seasonality, domain strength, CTR data and your own conversion rates, I model the realistic traffic and revenue opportunity available to you. It helps you invest in the right areas, in the right order, and make the case for SEO internally with confidence.

We don't have a crystal ball, but we can use data to make the best moves we can.

Site Migrations

A migration handled poorly can undo years of organic visibility overnight.

Handled well, it should be a carefully managed process where issues are identified and resolved before launch, not after. There's always some volatility when a new site settles into the index; but with the right preparation, that's kept to a minimum and growth can resume quickly.

With many migrations behind me, I know where things go wrong and how to make sure they don't.

eCommerce SEO

Large catalogues mean large opportunity, but scale brings complexity.

Poor site architecture, faceted navigation, variant handling and JS rendering can quietly kill growth. Getting these right at scale is what separates eCommerce sites that grow from those that plateau.

I help you find where you can compete, prioritise effort there, and build foundations that scale.

International SEO

International SEO trips a lot of people up.

Hreflang handled incorrectly means duplicate content issues, the wrong country pages showing in the wrong markets, and visitors landing on pages that aren't relevant to them.

That means weaker rankings, poor user experience, impacted conversion rates, and lost revenue.

I help businesses implement international SEO correctly from the start, and fix it when it's gone wrong.

Local SEO

Local search is often highly competitive for a small number of high-value terms.

Getting it right means well-optimised content that communicates your business clearly, a properly managed Google Business Profile, consistent NAP citations, and a site that converts local traffic into enquiries.

Whether you have one location or several, I help local businesses show up where it matters and turn that visibility into leads.

SEO Content Strategy

Finding the right opportunities, in the right order, then creating content that genuinely competes.

I use forecasting, competitor analysis and entity analysis to build a clear roadmap and ensure every piece signals relevance to search engines.

I can deliver the strategy and briefs for your team to execute, or create the content myself.

SEO Retainers

The best results come from working together over time. A retainer means I get to understand your business, your goals, and the nuances of your site in a way that one-off project work doesn't allow.

We work flexibly, focusing effort where it's needed most, without the friction of requoting every piece of work.

Enough time to get under the skin of things and start seeing real progress.

Edge SEO

Edge SEO works at the CDN level, between the server and the end user, meaning changes can be made without touching the underlying platform.

Useful when platforms are hard to edit, developer resource is stretched, or technical issues need resolving quickly without waiting for the development queue.

JavaScript SEO

JavaScript handled incorrectly creates serious SEO problems.

Client-side rendered content  can lead to volatile, suppressed rankings that never perform as well as they should.

I help businesses identify the right rendering approach and work with their development team to resolve the technical issues causing visibility problems.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a freelance SEO consultant?

A freelance SEO consultant is someone who helps businesses improve their visibility on search engines (like Google) - but works independently, rather than as part of an agency or in-house team.

A freelance SEO consultant differs from an in-house employee, as you only need to pay them for the billed, productive work that you need.

There also greater scope for flexibility with a freelance SEO consultant vs an agency, as they're not bound by agency procedures and are more free to work with other consultants you'd like to involve.

Why work with a freelance consultant rather than an agency?

When you work with a freelance SEO consultant, you have direct access to one person who fully understands your situation, your history, and your goals, and who does the work themselves.

Agencies are well suited to businesses that need a full-service team across multiple channels. But for businesses that want focused SEO expertise with a direct line to the person doing the work, a freelance consultant is often the better fit.

With senior-level experience and no layers in between, you can move faster. Communicating, implementing, and seeing results without the complexity.

How long does SEO take to work?

How long SEO takes to work will vary depends on how competitive the search terms are in the strategy and how much resource is invested into it.

For a low-competition niche, or where there are obvious unrealised opportunities, we may be able to get initial movement in under two months; whereas for highly competitive niches it could be longer.

When I work with you, I'll perform analysis to give us an understanding of competition and forecasting to model potential opportunity and rate of growth.

However, it's important to note, these are always well-informed models and not absolute predictions of the future.

How do I know if my SEO strategy is working?

In short, if your SEO strategy is working, you should see improvement in organic search positions - and, ideally, this should translate to increased clicks volume, and then in turn an increase in enquiries and/or transactions.

You may also see an increase in traffic from LLMs, such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity. A large aspect of how LLMs surface content is via query fan-out and performing searches on Google - so, focus #1 should be to rank on Google and traffic from the other platforms will follow.

If you're seeing an increase in clicks/sessions via organic search but no increase in enquiries/transactions, you may want to review the search queries your strategy is targeting.

Top-of-funnel, informational search queries are absolutely an important part of SEO strategy, but they won't convert at the same percentage as queries with a bottom-of-funnel, commercial intent.

Can a freelance SEO consultant work with my in-house team?

Yes - and this is a common way I work. I'm very used to slotting naturally into your project as a member of the team.

Many businesses have an in-house marketing team or developer resource, but lack the senior SEO expertise to lead strategy or tackle more complex challenges.

You can add me to your Slack or Teams channel and I'll slot straight in and offer my support to the project.

I can do this either on a retained basis as the long-term senior SEO resource, or on a project-basis.

Businesses will often bring me in for a specific high-stakes project, such as a site migration, so I can ensure all goes smoothly.

What should I expect when working with a freelance SEO consultant?

First, we'll have an initial conversation to understand your business, your goals, and where you are with SEO currently. From there I'll put together a clear picture of what needs doing and in what order.

If it's a one off project, we'll work out a plan for this; and if it's ongoing retained consultancy we'll go into set up, auditing, and research.

Usually there'll be some back and forth between us as I go through this process, as I'll research your industry and what your prospects search for and discuss with you which are important to you (and will drive the right people) and which are less relevant.

From here we'll develop the strategy to get you the organic search growth in the areas that make sense.

I tend to have an open working relationship with my clients - whether that's on WhatsApp, Slack, or Teams (whichever works best).

We'll have regular conversations and calls as needed to keep the project moving.

Reporting will be on what actually matters for your business and will be created bespoke for you.

Engagements are flexible, based on what you need - but it will always be me you'll be speaking with and me doing the work for you.

Let's talk about your growth.

Got a project in mind? I'd love to hear about it.
